Teaching Artistic Behavior (TAB) Summer Art Studio/Art Centers

We had the wonderful opportunity to learn from the TAB community. Many art teachers brought their own centers, gave mini lessons and shared their ideas. I want to honor them all with this blog and give them all credit unfortunately some had not written their names next to the centers when I originally took these pictures.

TAB community is amazing full of support, safe area to create, explore, play, experiment and it extends to online via Facebook and google drives. So many resources are available and what I ultimately loved about the coordinators of the training is that at each session they had open time for other teachers to share their experiences and really create this "safe" to share and open to listen to other suggestion. We had facilitators in our sessions but my no means did they take the full time to talk we were all aloud to speak up and share how we have tried different things in our classroom.

Each evening we had open studio time to create from 5 to 10 at night and each time I went there were plenty of people creating, playing, exploring and sharing. This time definitely help build the bonds quickly in just one week. Some teachers were shifting from teaching mediums to exploring new ones and the conversations went from how they were going to apply the centers in their own studios or something just personal stories. All conversations served to help one another, inspire, create, problem solve and grow both professional and personally. This was the application of the philosophy of TAB to the practice of TAB. Friday we had the opportunity to attend a conversation with a MassArt grad student on her approach to curating art show and teachers had the opportunity to help set up the end of week Art Teacher TAB Art Show. Friday we all had the opportunity to attend the art show, read their artist statements, see their beautiful TAB work and we received our 45 hour professional credit certificate.

It was absolutely beautiful to see the art created and read each artist statement, it really allowed to me to get to know them on a deeper level. The art show was a great way to close the art process and the application of TAB format.
